Future leaders in action! 🌟 Our James Farmer Scholars stepped into the halls of history at the Capitol on January 31st, soaking up lessons in leadership and democracy. ✨ Their passion and curiosity are paving the way to a brighter tomorrow. They had the opportunity to speak with the Lieutenant Governor and tour the mansion as well. The scholars were recognized on the floor by Delegate Josh Cole, who is a teacher at the James Farmer Scholars Saturday Sessions. 🏛️ #ScholarsAtTheCapitol #FutureLeaders #JamesFarmerScholars #CivicEngagement

NATIONAL CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION MONTH
What is career and technical education?
CTE students earn industry certifications and licenses, postsecondary certificates,
associate degrees, bachelor’s degrees, and higher.
92% of high school students and 69% of college and adult students are engaged in CTE, learning skills in the classroom and on the job.
CTE is good for students, good for businesses, and good for communities.
CTE high school students are college and career-ready: 94% graduate high school, and most enroll directly in college.
CTE is the answer to the nation’s projected deficit of 6.5 million skilled workers, including infrastructure, health care and manufacturing workforce shortages.
February is School Board Appreciation Month
The month of February marks the annual observance of School Board Appreciation Month—a good time to recognize the work of school board members and celebrate public education. Tell your locally elected board members you appreciate what they do for students in Fredericksburg City Public Schools and for being the heart of education by ensuring our students have the opportunity to benefit from a high-quality education. Their decisions and actions affect the present and future lives of our community’s children. Join us in celebrating School Board Appreciation Month in FCPS.

The ribbon was cut today, ceremoniously ushering in the Mobile Giving Tree. JMHS sponsor Tammy Clark said, "If you see a need, meet a need." Thanks to Anderson Oil, Ms. Clark's dream to take the Giving Tree to the community has been realized. Look for the truck this spring.
