Mrs. Scovell and Mrs. Watkins 4th grade classes celebrated the Read Bowl with a reading rally. They celebrated their 56,419 minutes of reading with snacks and football themed activities. They also got to work on a text feature scavenger hunt! Students watched as Malcolm Mitchell, former NFL player, announced Read Bowl winners. Congratulations to all. Way to go HMES Patriots.

HMES would like to SHOUT OUT Ms. Nelson School Counselor. Ms. Nelson has been with FCPS since 2005. She has been with Hugh Mercer School since 2022 and we think she "Rocks the House". She works with grade K, 1st and 5. She's a true HMES Patriot.

There are state government benefits available to individuals with disabilities. It’s important to understand that benefits such as personal assistance and community support can play an important role in planning for the future. Navigating state disability services can be difficult, time-consuming, and overwhelming. This workshop explains Virginia’s Medicaid Waivers, eligibility for services, and how to obtain this state benefit.
