Music in the Air!! HMES Patriots had a special treat this morning!! Ms. Breen and Ms. Sanker played music for students as they enter the school.
All of the students in Mrs. San Soucie's class last week became authors! Students had to research an animal and write their own non-fiction book where they shared facts about the animal's appearance, diet, family, and habitat! Then students made their animals out of clay, and their own habitats. Students and families around the school were invited to come and meet the authors where they shared a presentation about their book, and even signed copies of their books for various students! Hats off to these scholarly authors!

Dr. Thomas also talked about robotic surgery and how it is used during surgeries! The students were able to interact with questions and Cavity Jack by "performing surgery" and locating the organs in the body!

Nurse Appreciation Day was May 8, 2024. Every day they tend to all the medical needs of all our HMES Patriots. Cuts and Brusies don't stand a chance when these ladies are around. Thanks for all you do. 🩹🩹🤕🩹🤕🤕🩹
Teachers want to send a Big Thanks to HMES PTA for all the wonderful treats this week. We were popping with popcorn, quenching our thirst with a hydration bar, and we also satisfied our sweet tooth with a sweet treat from Nothing bundt cakes.
Find the Good in Every Day!
Positive thinking can have many impacts on your mental health. Research shows that when we focus on the good, we are able to better cope with everyday challenges. Take a few minutes each day next week to focus on the positive.
Monday- Make a list of 5 things you are grateful for today.
Tuesday- Practice positive self-talk.
Wednesday- Start a conversation about mental health. Need an example of where to start, ask your family "Has anything happened recently that made you feel happy, sad, or worried?"
Thursday- Drink some water! Our bodies are made up mostly of water and it is vital to keep us hydrated and healthy.
Friday- Take a break from screens (cell phones, computers, TV's, etc.). Enjoy fresh air or play a game as a family!
Today third grade took a walking trip to the Fredericksburg City Police Department. We learned about forensics, the patrol area and participated in some obstacle course activities. Thank you, Fredericksburg City Police department we had the best time! Ms. Burns class is pictured!
Miss Sayles 3rd grade class enjoyed their tour of the police department as junior officers! They learned about a patrol team and detective team, finger printing process, and how they use video footage to capture evidence of suspects. They thoroughly enjoyed the obstacle course!
