The Superintendent’s Summer Scholar program concluded today. Approximately 75 family guests and visitors enjoyed a showcase of student work, a video of group experience highlights, and light refreshments. The enrichment and exploratory program is in its 29th year with over 200 students participating.

Summer Scholars were able to enjoy perfect summer weather at Braehead Farm! They learned about the animals, why bees are so important, and locally grown crops.
🎳Bowling was right up the alley for 2nd & 3rd grade Summer Scholars students.
Water Play! 💦💦💦
Kindergarteners and 1st graders enjoyed Water Day! They played games from duck, duck, goose, to having a water balloon fight and a bunch of other stations in between.

Mrs. Hughes's class enjoyed an amazing story. The story was geared towards reinforcing the letters of the alphabet. HMES/LES summer school students are Rocking the House.
Ms. Anderson class worked on learning the sound "SH". They became Sharks to go along with the "SH" sound. Watch out for the learning Sharks in ocean near you!HMES/ LES students are working hard every day at Summer School!

Ms. Romero and Ms. Armstead's 3rd grade summer scholars participated in a STEAM Day on Friday. They engineered bucket towers with just straws, string, and tape- the winning teams bucket tower could hold over 200 pennies! 😊 After, the scholars did an experiment on rain clouds and chromatography!
HMES/LES Summer School is off to a wonderful start! Ms. Romero's class play a fun game of Math bingo that focused on fractions. What a fun way to reinforce the student's math skills.
This week, Preschool Programs had 3M film installed on the front windows of the building.
All FCPS entrance windows will have protective 3M film installed to help delay intruders and prevent flying glass shards. This initiative is just one part of our layered approach to safety.
