This is an important message from Dr. Brenda Russ, Principal of Hugh Mercer Elementary School. We had a great week of learning last week with our Kindergarten and First Grade visiting the Pumpkin Patch to engage in hands-on learning activities. We also had a successful Trunk or Treat event on Friday! A special THANK YOU to everyone who came out and supported this event! We could not have done it without you! 🎃👻🍬🍭
I apologize in advance for the length email, as we have a busy week ahead. Here is our update for the week:
📚📐Our Fall Math & Literacy Night will be held on Wednesday, October 29th from 5:30-6:30 PM. 🍝Dinner will be served from 6:30-7:00 PM in the cafeteria. Families will have the opportunity to participate in various interactive activities that would support learning at home.
🖥️We invite you to participate in the Disability Benefits (Social Security and VA's Medicaid Waivers) Webinar on October 28th from 4:30-6:30 PM via Zoom. The QR is included in this email.
👻🎃The HMES Student Fall Festival will be on Friday, October 31st. Our K-2 students will participate in their fall festival on Friday at 9:30 AM. The parade will take place inside the school. No spectators allowed.
NOTE: All students (K-5) students are encouraged to wear their costumes. All costumes should be school appropriate. No toy/look alike weapons or masks allowed.
📢Grades 4-5 Parents/Families: Alongside will host webinars. Review the attachment if you wish to participate.
📃Quarter 1 Report Cards will be issued on Thursday, October 30th.
Looking Ahead
📃🗓️Tuesday, November 4th: Teacher-Parent Conferences from 9:00 AM-3:00 PM. A sing-up letter will be sent home tomorrow. Conferences could be in person, over the phone, or via Teams. We hope you take advantage of this opportunity to connect with your child's teacher and share ask any questions, collaborate, or share any concerns you may have.
🛝Friday, November 7th: The PTA will host a fundraiser at Urban Air from 4:00-9:00 PM. Our PTA will receive 20% of the tickets purchased in person. Come out and have fun we hope to see you there!
🪖🎖️💜Monday, November 10th: HMES will host a Veteran's Day Parade & Breakfast to honor our military-connected families.
🗓️🪖🎖️Tuesday, November 11th: Veteran's Day Holiday - No school for students and staff.
