Next week the school Book Fair will begin on Monday, September 19th and run till Friday, September 23rd. We love to see our students develop a love for reading and enjoying books.
Also on Monday, we have the return of the P.E. department’s Fun Run fundraisers. Students in grades 3 to 5 can sign up to participate after school. Details and sign-up forms went home with students last week for tomorrow's September Shuffle Fun Run. The sign-up form is also located on our school website. Forms can still be submitted.
Next week we begin PALS testing for Kindergarteners. PALS stands for Phonological Awareness Literacy Screening and it was administered to students in grades 1-3 last month.
On Wednesday, September 21st, we have two events. School Picture day will be held throughout the school day. Information and order forms were sent home last week. On Wednesday evening from 5PM to 7PM, we will also have our Back to School Night. Parents will have a chance to visit their child’s classroom and see what they have been doing since returning to school. Parents will also have an opportunity to meet their child’s specials teachers We hope to see you join us Wednesday night.
On Saturday, September 24th, FCPS will have Family Day at James Monroe High School. Information went home with students last week and more details can be found on both the school website and school division website.
Monday, September 26th will be a school holiday and all FCPS schools will be closed then. Schools will open again on Tuesday, September 27th.
One reminder. We want all our students to join us each day at school. Sometimes your child just can’t come to school for any number of reasons. It is very important that an attendance note is turned in to both excuse the absence and to help us know which students will need their learning caught up when they do return to school. To help parents with submitting those notes, we have an electronic form that can be filled out on our website. Here is the link https://hmes.fxbgschools.us/quicklinks/attendance-notes. Coming soon will be a QR code that can be scanned by your phone to take you directly to the link on your phone.
Please enjoy the remainder of your weekend and all of us here at HMES are looking forward to seeing you tomorrow at school.
